Phillies add Hollins to Scouting Staff

Former Phillie Dave Hollins has returned to the organization as a special assignment scout, Benny Looper, Assistant General Manager, Player Personnel, announced today.

Hollins, 43, spent the last four seasons (2006-09) as a pro scout with the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to that, he served as a minor league hitting coach for the New York Mets (2004-05) at single-A Capital City and double-A Binghamton.

Hollins spent parts of 12 seasons in the major leagues with the Phillies (1990-95, 2002), Boston Red Sox (1995), Minnesota Twins (1996), Seattle Mariners (1996), California Angels (1997-98) and Cleveland Indians (2001). For his career, he hit .260 with 112 home runs and 482 RBI in 983 games. In 1993, he was a member of the Phillies' National League Championship club.
