Shortstop Jimmy Rollins has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right groin strain, Senior Vice President & General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. announced today. To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, the club activated third baseman Placido Polanco from the disabled list.

Rollins, 32, is hitting .268 this season with 22 doubles, 14 HR, 58 RBI, 79 runs and 28 stolen bases. He has appeared in 121 of the Phillies' 125 games while committing just five errors in 504 total chances (.990 fielding percentage).

Polanco, 35, was originally placed on the DL with a sports hernia on August 16 (retroactive to August 7). In 89 games this season, the 2011 National League All-Star is batting .275 with 40 RBI and 35 runs while posting a .976 fielding percentage, second-best among all NL third basemen. Polanco previously missed 19 games this season while on the disabled list with lower back inflammation (July 5-30).
