May 23, 1999 > Tom Gordon of the Boston Red Sox extends his Major League record by converting his 50th consecutive save opportunity in a 10-8 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Gordon's streak will reach 54 before the Atlanta Braves hand him a ninth inning loss on June 5th.
