Saarloos opposes ex-A's righty Lidle
Philadelphia (38-30) at Oakland (27-39), 12:15 p.m. PT
A's right-hander Kirk Saarloos will take on former Oakland righty Cory Lidle on Saturday in the second game of a three-game Interleague series against the visiting Phillies at McAfee Coliseum.
Saarloos could be making his last start for the A's, who likely will welcome Rich Harden back to the rotation next week. Saarloos, who was a reliever for most of his college career and has made two appearances out of the bullpen this season, hasn't pitched more than six innings in any of his 11 starts in 2005 and might need a strong outing to remain the team's No. 5 starter.
In the series opener Friday, the Phillies broke open a 1-0 game with five runs in the seventh inning and got 5 2/3 shutout innings from rookie Robinson Tejeda on the way to victory.
