Dobbs, Phils rally late, but fall vs. Sox
Hamels allows five earned runs on six hits in five innings

Red Sox at the plate: Manny Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, J.D. Drew and Kevin Youkilis all homered, responsible for five of Boston's six runs. Youkilis' homer was a two-run shot, the other three were solo blasts. Alex Cora drove in the sixth run with a single.
Phillies at the plate: Ryan Howard doubled and scored a run in the second on a double-play groundout by Wes Helms. Philadelphia had 13 hits. Greg Dobbs added a two-run single and Brent Abernathy drove in another run with a single in the ninth, that pulled the Phillies within a run.
Red Sox on the mound: Julian Tavarez looked very strong over 5 2/3 innings, scattering six hits and giving up one run. He struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Phillies on the mound: Phils starter Cole Hamels got smacked for five runs over five innings, all five came off home runs. Hamels gave up six hits, but did not yield a walk and struck out five.
Up next: The Phillies will go with righty Adam Eaton against Daisuke Matsuzaka in the second game of the On-Deck Series at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday. The start time is 1:05 p.m. ET
