The Phillies begin a three-game series against the Nationals on Tuessday riding a surging offense that has scored 20 runs over the past two wins. Philadelphia is riding a three-game winning streak.

After a 4-11 start, the Phillies have climbed to 7-11.

"We've been swinging the bats better over the last two games," manager Charlie Manuel said. "Let's see if we can keep it up and stay consistent."

Philadelphia will send veteran lefty Jamie Moyer, who handcuffed the Nationals for eight innings on Thursday, using his assortment of slow and slower pitches to tease aggressive Washington hitters.

The Nationals will counter with Jason Bergmann. The righty lasted 6 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits against the Phillies on Wednesday, in a game the Phillies would lose in 13 innings.

After allowing an RBI double to Adam Eaton in the second, Bergmann was lights-out, retiring the next 13 hitters he faced.

Pitching matchup
WAS: RHP Jason Bergmann (0-1, 3.94 ERA)
Bergmann is making his second career start against the Phillies.

PHI: LHP Jamie Moyer (2-1, 3.05 ERA)
Moyer is 5-4 with a 3.07 ERA in 13 career starts vs. the Expos/Nationals.

Player to watch
Jimmy Rollins is coming off a four-hit night, in which he came within a double of hitting for the cycle.
