Slugger gives club an extra left-handed bat off the bench
PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies activated outfielder Chris Snelling from the 15-day disabled list Monday, giving them an extra left-handed bat against a right-handed slate of Cincinnati Reds starters.
To make room for Snelling, the Phillies optioned outfielder T.J. Bohn to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Phillies opened a four-game series against the Reds on Monday. Cincinnati is slated to send four right-handed starters to the hill in the series. Snelling has one hit in three at-bats with the Phillies this season -- a pinch-hit, ninth-inning home run against the Astros on April 15. The outfielder was placed on the disabled list April 20 with left knee inflammation. He had been on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.Kevin Horan is an associate reporter for MLB.com.
