ATLANTA -- The Phillies purchased the Minor League contract of reliever R.J. Swindle after Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Braves. He will join the team Wednesday in Atlanta.

Swindle, a 24-year-old left-hander, was 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in 18 games with Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Manager Charlie Manuel said late Tuesday that Swindle was brought up because the Phillies are without Clay Condrey, who won't likely rejoin the team until Thursday. He is in Texas with his wife, who is having a baby.

Brett Myers agreed to be optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, which left a vacancy in the starting rotation. Manuel is expected to announce Wednesday who will fill that rotation spot. Reliever Chad Durbin is one of the likely candidates.
