Feliz lands on DL with sore back
Phillies third baseman replaced on roster by infielder Cervenak
WASHINGTON -- Three days of inactivity didn't help Pedro Feliz's condition, and the third baseman was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with lower back inflammation.Feliz missed the weekend series against Atlanta, with Greg Dobbs starting Friday and Eric Bruntlett on Saturday and Sunday. He didn't feel right when he played catch on Sunday, and he hasn't felt better since. He hasn't picked up a bat since Friday. "He's hurt," manager Charlie Manuel said. "He didn't say a whole lot about it. He didn't feel real good. When he came to the ballpark [on Tuesday], you could tell he was hurt." Feliz left the team to return to Philadelphia, with infielder Mike Cervenak arriving from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take his place. Feliz told Manuel that he began feeling discomfort last month in Oakland and Texas. Though Feliz complained of "stiffness," he didn't say much more about it. "He just said he thought maybe he might've dove or swung the bat or something, tweaked something in his back," Manuel said. "He said he didn't think a whole lot about it. We came back -- started playing -- and it started bothering him." With Feliz out, Manuel said he would rotate Bruntlett and Dobbs, depending on performance. "Get hot," Manuel said. "See who wants to play there."
