Seanez to DL with injured right shoulder
Phillies right-hander hurt himself while trying to make a tag
ST. LOUIS -- Rudy Seanez was placed on the 15-day disabled list after injuring his right shoulder against the Nationals on Thursday night.Seanez injured his shoulder after attempting to tag the Nationals' Lastings Milledge in Thursday's 8-4 Phillies win. The veteran right-hander fell to the ground, landing on the shoulder.
Seanez, 39, struggled in July, posting a 7.71 ERA in eight appearances. He had also been bothered by a sore back. After making the play on Milledge, Seanez walked Ryan Langerhans, prompting Phillies manager Charlie Manuel to go to the mound. He noticed Seanez was breathing heavy. "It might have had something to do with being on the ground," Manuel said. "He had the wind knocked out of him. Rudy's one of those stubborn guys. He won't tell you when he's hurt." Seanez was replaced on the roster by Les Walrond, a 31-year-old left-hander, who had gone 5-7 with a 2.61 ERA for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. On July 6, he struck out 17 in a five-hit shutout of Louisville.
