Werth returns to No. 2 spot for Game 3
Victorino, who batted second in Game 2, back to sixth
MILWAUKEE -- Jayson Werth returned to his more familiar spot near the top of the lineup for Game 3 of the National League Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Werth batted second or third in 17 of the last 18 regular-season games, resting in the meaningless Game 162, after the Phillies had clinched the NL East. He batted second in Game 1 against Yovanni Gallardo and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. Dropping to sixth in the order for Game 2, he laced two doubles, as Shane Victorino went 3-for-4 with a grand slam off CC Sabathia out of the No. 2 hole. Despite the success, Manuel opted to return the respective players to their more recent common slots. Werth has hit second 30 times this season, and Victorino has done it 81 times. The switch-hitting Victorino has batted sixth in 18 of the past 20 games.Phillies' Game 3 Lineup | ||
