Utley not in Phillies' starting lineup
Plunked on foot Friday, second baseman given day off
PHILADELPHIA -- Chase Utley did not start Saturday against the Mets at Citizens Bank Park after getting hit with a pitch in his right foot Friday.
It is not believed to be serious.
"He's fine," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "He's just getting a day off."
Manager Charlie Manuel had a much different lineup without Utley hitting third. He dropped Jimmy Rollins from first to fifth, moved Shane Victorino from second to first, moved Jayson Werth from fifth to third and moved Raul Ibanez from sixth to second.
Ryan Howard remained in the cleanup spot. Pedro Feliz hit sixth, Eric Bruntlett hit seventh and Carlos Ruiz hit eighth.
"I'm looking for balance so we don't have the left-handers hitting together," Manuel explained about the lineup.
