Phillies Press Release
Phillies Blood Drive set for June 15
One donor to be selected at random to throw ceremonial first pitch at upcoming Phillies game
The Phillies Blood Drive returns on Friday, June 15 at Citizens Bank Park, from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Held in honor of World Donor Day and in partnership with the American Red Cross, the Phillies Blood Drive is being hosted to meet the critical need for blood this summer and offers presenting donors some rare opportunities. Among them:
- All presenting blood donors will receive a Special Edition Red Rally Towel
- One lucky donor will be randomly selected to throw a ceremonial first pitch at an upcoming home game
- Chance to mingle with the Phillie Phanatic, Phillies Ballgirls and more!
The Phillies Blood Drive is one of the largest blood drives in the region. Since 2006, the Phillies and American Red Cross have teamed up to host ten Phillies Blood Drives at Citizens Bank Park, collecting nearly 7,000 units of blood and potentially helping to save over 17,000 lives across the region.
Note: Fans donating on June 15 at Citizens Bank Park will still be eligible to donate during the annual Phillies Blood Drive on August 18.
HOW TO DONATE
Fans are asked to pre-register to donate blood at www.redcrossblood.org/pennjersey or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS. Most healthy people who are at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds or more are eligible to donate blood every 56 days. Sixteen-year-olds can donate blood with parental consent.
Fans who cannot attend the Phillies Blood Drive, but would still like to contribute to the cause, can contact the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org.
