PHILADELPHIA -- This has become a family thing for the Halladays.
On Thursday, Roy and Brandy Halladay hosted about 65 people at 10 Arts Bistro and Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton in Center City for The Halladay Family Foundation Food Fight 2012.
The foundation donated profits from the event to Philabundance, the region's largest hunger relief fund.
"We did a lot of food drives in Toronto," Halladay said. "That was Brandy's specialty. Then we all got into it. It's something we all enjoyed because the kids could get involved."
"You can't fail a food drive," Brandy added. "No matter what you do, it's going to help somebody."
Brandy said she and Roy participated in food drives growing up in Colorado, so this is an extension of that.
This was the foundation's first event to benefit Philabundance. The Halladays are planning a grander event next summer, which they hope will involve some of the area's best chefs, with each chef creating their own course for a superstar dinner.
Sounds like a foodie's dream.
The Halladays should not lack for choices when it comes to finding quality chefs in the area. They have sampled some of the best restaurants in the area, and said they have yet to be disappointed.
Of course, in the meantime they are trying to spread the word about Philabundance.
"September is Hunger Action Month," Brandy said.
Philabundance has a program called 30 Ways in 30 Days to fight hunger this month. For more information visit philabundance.org. To learn more about The Halladay Family Foundation visit thehalladayfamilyfoundation.org.
