2013 All-Star Joins Hall of Fame Broadcaster Milo Hamilton
HOUSTON, TX - Newly-acquired right-handed pitcher and 2013 All-Star Jesse Crain will be the guest on Astroline tomorrow for the eighth installment of the offseason radio program.
The show will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. from Pluckers Wing Bar (1400 Shepherd Dr., 77007) on KTRH 740 AM. The show is open to the public and will be streamed online at Astros.com.
Hall of Fame broadcaster and the "Voice of the Astros" Milo Hamilton, who celebrated his 69th year on the airwaves during Thanksgiving week, serves as the host of Astroline, and will do so for most of the remaining shows this offseason.
Fans can submit questions to the show via Twitter at twitter.com/astros before and during the show. Fans may also post questions on the Astros Facebook page at www.facebook.com/Astros. As always, fans will also have the option to call the show with questions at 713-212-5874.
Astroline, which is presented by Budweiser, will be broadcast live weekly from 7-8 p.m. CT during the offseason. The show will rotate between KTRH 740 AM and their sister station KBME 790 AM.
Crain, 32, was signed by the Astros as a free agent on Dec. 31, 2013. Last season, he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career after going 2-3 with a 0.74 ERA (3ER/36.2IP) and 46 strikeouts in 38 games with the White Sox. The 10-year Major League veteran has gone 45-30 with a 3.05 ERA (180ER/532IP) and 440 strikeouts in 532 career appearances.
Hamilton began his Hall of Fame radio career as a disc jockey on the Armed Forces Radio Network during Thanksgiving week in 1945. He retired from the Astros radio booth at the end of the 2012 season, which was his 28th with the Astros and his 59th year broadcasting Major League Baseball. Although he retired from calling games, Hamilton has remained active with the Astros and continues to host charity events, while making select appearances on game broadcasts.
