BOSTON, MA - The Red Sox Foundation and the club's Community Relations Department today began two weeks of charitable events and programs that run through July 10. The Red Sox play the Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles, and Chicago White Sox on a homestand that begins tonight and concludes July 10.

 

Tek & Friends Golf Classic, Monday, June 30

Earlier today, Red Sox Special Assistant to the General Manager Jason Varitek hosted The Capital Grille 11th Annual Pitching in for Kids Tek & Friends Golf Classic at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy. Pitching in for Kids is a non-profit organization that raises funds to improve the lives of children across New England.

 

Make-A-Wish, Monday, June 30

Zachary Sprader, a 13 year-old from Wisconsin with leukemia, will be visiting Fenway Park today, fulfilling his wish to attend a Red Sox-Cubs game while sitting on the Green Monster. The club routinely partners with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make such dreams come true.

 

Fan Photo Day, Wednesday, July 2

On Wednesday, July 2, the club will host Player/Fan Photo Sessions at the Souvenir Store on Yawkey Way, where fans can meet and take photos with "a player to be named later" following batting practice.

 

CVS Hitting Clinic, Wednesday, July 2, and Tuesday, July 8

On July 2 and 8, Red Sox Assistant Hitting Coach Victor Rodriguez, in partnership with CVS, will host a hitting clinic for children at Fenway Park starting at 11:30 a.m.

 

Brock Holt at Somerville Sports Authority, Saturday, July 5

Red Sox rookie Brock Holt will sign autographs at the Sports Authority in Somerville from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 5. The event is open to the public. 

 

Maine Red Sox Service Scholarships, Sunday, July 6

The Red Sox Foundation will introduce the 10 recipients of this year's Maine Red Sox Service Scholarships before the 1:35 p.m. Red Sox-Orioles game. The program awards public high school seniors from Maine with $1,000 scholarships towards their college education based on their community service, as well as academic performance and financial aid eligibility.

 

 

Pedroia's Platoon, Monday, July 7

As part of Dustin Pedroia's program for members of the military - "Pedroia's Platoon" - Staff Sergeant Scott Shea and his guests will meet the second baseman and be hosted at the Red Sox-White Sox game. 

 

Flyin' Hawaiian All Stars, Monday, July 7

Shane Victorino will meet with and host a group of children from the Best Buddies organization at the Red Sox-White Sox game as part of his program for kids.

 

Make-A-Wish, Monday, July 7

Dustin Pedroia will meet with Andrew Fraij, a 13 year-old from Oklahoma with leukemia, before the Red-Sox-White Sox game, in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  

 

Make-A-Wish, Monday, July 7

Boston Gibbs, a 6 year-old from New York with leukemia who was named after the Boston Red Sox, will meet with David Ortiz before the Red Sox-White Sox game, fulfilling a wish he made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

 

Papi's Pals, Tuesday, July 8

A group of children from MassGeneral Hospital for Children will meet with David Ortiz and enjoy the game courtesy of the slugger's program for kids who are being treated at the facility.

 

Sox Talks, Wednesday, July 9

Red Sox players and coaches will participate in a baseball clinic with children at Billings Field in Brighton from noon to 1:30 p.m. as part of the Boston Parks & Recreation Department's Sox Talk program.

 

Bearded Bunch, Wednesday, July 9

Mike Napoli will host and meet with patients and families from Boston Children's Hospital before the Red Sox-White Sox game as part of his "Bearded Bunch" program for kids who are being treated at this facility.

 

Peavy's Little Wanderers, Thursday, July 10

Red Sox pitcher Jake Peavy will host children from The Home for Little Wanderers at the Red-Sox White Sox game as part of his program for kids.
