"We're the Police and we're back," announced lead singer Sting from the stage of the Grammy Awards, heralding a tour that has long been a dream for music fans. After electrifying performances the following morning after the Grammy's at the Whiskey on Los Angeles' famed Sunset Strip, Sting, drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers are making a return to the stage together for the first time in nearly 14 years. The band last performed in Philadelphia at JFK Stadium in August of 1983.
In 1977, The Police stormed the music scene by blending reggae, punk, jazz and rock. Sting, Copeland and Summers created an unmistakably nuanced sound filled with evocative melodies, infectious lyrics and rock & roll swagger. The Police dominated the charts and radio airwaves worldwide with five no. 1 albums and a succession of top 10 hit singles. In the six years they were together, The Police became one of the world's most famous bands, earning six Grammy Awards and countless fans around the globe.
Fiction Plane opens both shows.
