The Pittsburgh Pirates, along with MLB Advanced Media and Tickets.com, Inc., have officially launched Tickets@Phone, a mobile ticketing service which allows fans a quick and convenient way to have tickets delivered to their cell phones via multimedia messaging or a picture message.

The message includes a unique barcode and standard ticket information, thus alleviating the need to present a traditional paper ticket at the gate. The Pirates are currently one of only three teams in Major League Baseball currently utilizing mobile ticketing technology.

"Mobile ticketing offers fans the opportunity to purchase tickets over the Internet and be delivered nearly instantly to their cell phone," said Jim Alexander, Pirates Director of Ticket Services and Business Development. "This option is a convenient way for fans to purchase Pirates game tickets and proceed directly to the gates without waiting in ticket and will call lines."

The designated mobile ticketing gate at PNC Park is the Willie Stargell gate located on Federal Street. Once the mobile ticket is scanned at the Willie Stargell gate, each guest will receive a printed receipt of their ticket, including a seat location. This receipt is to be retained throughout the game just as any normal ticket would be.

Presently, there are over 180 cellular phone models certified to work with Tickets@Phone (a list of compatible models is available on Pirates.com). New phones are being tested for compatibility and added to the list on a monthly basis. For individuals owning a phone that are not on the current certified list, a text-only option is available.

The Tickets@Phone technology is provided by Tickets.com, a subsidiary of MLB Advanced Media, LP and the interactive media and Internet company of Major League Baseball. Tickets.com is a premier event ticketing solutions and services provider for thousands of top worldwide entertainment and sports venues. Mobile tickets can be purchased at any time on Pirates.com.
