Phils' tentative 2008 schedule revealed

Red Sox and Blue Jays will visit Citizens Bank Park next year

PHILADELPHIA -- Considering how 2007 went against the Mets, Phillies fans will want to write down these days and plan accordingly.

Their National League East rivals will visit Philadelphia for a total of nine games on April 18-20, July 4-7 and Aug. 26-27, according to the Phillies' tentative schedule which was released on Monday.

As shortstop Jimmy Rollins predicted on a cold January afternoon in 2007, the Phillies were the team to beat. Philadelphia won the final eight meetings against the Mets and wrestled the division away on the final day of the season. New York will come to Philadelphia looking for revenge.

The Phillies make the first of three trips to New York on April 8-10.

After two "on-deck" series games against the Blue Jays at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies begin their NL East defense against the Washington Nationals on March 31. They play them again on April 2 and 3 before heading to Cincinnati for a four-game series.

Though they'll head to Colorado at the end of April, the Phillies will host the team that eliminated them from postseason play on May 26-28.

The American League Champion Red Sox come to Philadelphia for a three-game set from June 16-18, as part of Interleague Play. The Phillies also host the Jays (May 16-18) and Angels (June 20-22).

Don't plan any summer vacations from July 4-13 or Aug. 19-27, as the Phillies have extended homestands during those dates.

The Phils also end the season at home with six games against the Braves and Nationals.
