Clearwater right-hander Darren Byrd was 1-0 for one start, allowing one earned run in seven innings on eight hits and no walks on Wednesday. Lost shutout on an eighth-inning home run. Has won two in a row after losing first five at Clearwater. In those two wins, two earned runs, 16 1/3 innings, 11 strikeouts. Began season at Lakewood and was promoted after 1-1, 2.80 ERA for six starts. The 21-year-old was selected in the 18th round in 2005 out of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School.
Player of the Week
Outfielder Fabio Murakami of the Gulf Coast League Phillies hit .500 in six games (10-for-20) with two doubles, his first home run and seven RBIs. The 20-year-old was signed as an amateur free agent in November 2005 out of Tupi Paulista, Brazil. He spent his first two pro seasons in the Venezuela Summer League.

6-1 with a five-game winning streak ... C Sebastian Valle hit .533 in six games and scored eight runs on eight hits; four of the hits were doubles ... OF Vladimir De Los Santos hit his club-high fifth HR; 23 RBIs also lead the team ... RHP Ryan Bergh gave up his first two earned runs of the season but he emerged the winner on Tuesday; 2B Harold Garcia, double, triple, four RBIs ... RHP Kyle Drabek, who had Tommy John surgery in July a year ago, returned to the mound on Wednesday, three scoreless innings, one hit ... RHP Jason Knapp (2-1) pitched five shutout innings on Friday with no walks, two hits, six strikeouts ... RH reliever Mauricio Romero was 1-0 for two appearances, stretching his scoreless streak to 22 innings.
