2009 is the 13th season of interleague play between the American League and National League. A total of 252 interleague games will be played this season.

The A. L. has won the season-series five straight seasons and holds a 1,536-1,420 lead. The Yankees have the best overall record, 123-87.

For the Phillies, it starts Friday night in the new Yankee Stadium. Next month, the Phillies will host the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles before visiting the Tampa Bay Rays and Blue Jays.
