Moyer meets briefly with A-Rod

Veteran was critical of slugger's admission to using steroids

NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguez spotted Jamie Moyer near the visitor's dugout Friday at Yankee Stadium and called him over near the batting cage.

Old teammates catching up?

Kind of. Moyer was very critical of Rodriguez in February, when Rodriguez acknowledged he had used performance enhancing drugs. Friday was the first time the two had seen each other since Moyer spoke.

"I don't see how he has a chance," Moyer told The Philadelphia Inquirer, referring to Rodriguez's chances to make the Hall of Fame. "Who in their right mind would vote for anyone who got caught taking that stuff?

"It's about respecting the game. I'd be disappointed in anybody in that situation. When people have had an impact on your life, you want to feel for them. But how can I feel for him? To me, if you're doing it, you know it's illegal. I commend him for coming out and saying it, but why didn't he say it seven years ago?"

Moyer and Rodriguez, former teammates with the Seattle Mariners, spoke for several minutes. The discussion never got heated, but both players clearly spoke their minds. Rodriguez left with a smile on his face.

"Everything is good," Moyer said afterward.
