Phillies righty could begin rehab assignment Sunday

He has been cleared medically to throw a simulated game Tuesday at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. If that goes well, Martinez could begin a rehab assignment Sunday.
"I'm ready, I'm ready," he told The Associated Press.
Martinez, 37, signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Phillies last Wednesday. That contract is prorated, however, which guarantees Martinez about $1 million. He has incentives in his contract where he makes $75,000 for starts six through 10 and $100,000 for starts 11 through 15.
He also has incentives based on relief appearances, although the Phillies are expecting him to be a starter, and bonuses for days spent on the 25-man roster.
"Now I am going to get into a regular routine," Martinez said. "Throw a simulated game, a side session and from there, do any work to get into a game."
