Rehab start up next if Martinez feels healthy Wednesday

Martinez told the Philadelphia Daily News after his 59-pitch workout that he anticipates joining the big-league club following a Friday rehab outing for Lehigh Valley against Columbus."I hope that if everything goes well, that will be my last step," Martinez said. "I'm looking forward to making the next one, on Friday, the last one." Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said on Tuesday that it was too early to tell if Martinez would be ready to pitch with the Phillies next week or if he will need another rehab start.
"We haven't seen him pitch," Amaro said. "He's only gotten four outs."
Martinez had his first rehab start Sunday with Class A Clearwater canceled in the second inning because of rain.
Of Tuesday's extended session, Martinez said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, "I went out there, I was free, easy, and [had] no soreness at all. Perfect, perfect. I couldn't ask for a better day."
Martinez went on the disabled list upon signing as a free agent with the Phillies on July 14 with a mild shoulder strain.
If he needs a third rehab start, that would take place on Aug. 5.
