Phillies' No. 1 prospect Maikel Franco collected four hits Wednesday as Triple-A Lehigh Valley defeated Syracuse, 2-1, in 10 innings.
Franco, ranked No. 22 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, went 4-for-4. It was his first game with more than two hits since May 16 and his first four-hit game of the season.
After breaking out in 2013, this year has been more of a struggle for Franco. At 21 years old, he is the second-youngest player in the International League and is hitting .219/.276/.327 in 79 games this season. After homering 31 times in 2013, he has just five home runs this season and hasn't gone deep since June 5.
Grady Sizemore also helped lead the IronPigs' offense Wednesday. He led off the the first inning with a home run, his first since the Phillies signed him last week. The veteran center fielder finished the game 1-for-3 with two walks and now has at least one hit in his first five games with the organization.
