Lester has allowed just one run through 14 innings for the Cubs in the playoffs. The veteran southpaw owns a 0.86 ERA through three starts (21 innings) against the Dodgers this year, including Game 1 of the NLCS.
Maeda hasn’t pitched into the fifth in any of his last four outings, including back-to-back playoff starts, and has a 9.88 ERA in that span. He’ll look to get back on track at Dodger Stadium, where he’s 7-5 with a 3.22 ERA.
Though nothing has been officially announced, manager Dave Roberts insisted Clayton Kershaw won't return on short rest for Game 5, leaving the ace in line to pitch on five days' rest when the NLCS returns to Chicago for Game 6 on Saturday.
