Down four runs in the seventh, Jayson Werth hit a pinch-hit three-run homer, and Jimmy Rollins tied things up on Chase Utley's fielder's-choice grounder. Rollins laced a go-ahead RBI double in the eighth as the Phillies pulled within 1 1/2 games of the Mets in the tight National League East.
The Nats looked to be playing spoiler with a four-run lead after two innings and starter Jason Bergmann performing solidly through six. Once Bergmann left, however, things went south. The bullpen allowed four runs in the seventh to tie the game, and the Phils pushed across one more in the eighth as the Nats fell in the opener.
