The Phillies jumped ahead on Ryan Howard's 43rd homer, a two-run jack in the first, and held on to trim the Brewers' NL Wild Card lead -- and the Mets' NL East lead -- to three games. Jamie Moyer notched his 14th win with 5 2/3 effective innings of three-run ball.
