Belliard, Carroll, Jansen, Podsenik and Weaver to provide Los Angeles-area youth with an unforgettable day at the ballpark

LOS ANGELES -- Prior to this evening's game at Dodger Stadium, Dodgers players Ron Belliard, Jamey Carroll, Kenley Jansen, Scott Podsednik and Jeff Weaver will provide everlasting memories to a group of 50 youth from the MLB Urban Youth Baseball Academy in Compton as the Major League Baseball Players Trust's Buses for Baseball program motors into Los Angeles.

The MLB Urban Youth Baseball Academy enhances the quality of life in urban American communities and uses the strength of the national pastime to set the standard for education, character development and baseball instruction. The Academy operates in partnership with Major League Baseball and strives to build championship-caliber Major League players and solid Major League contributors to society.

Courtesy of the playersÂ’ charitable foundation, the children will receive round-trip transportation to the game, meet the players, and receive free tickets, food, beverages and souvenirs.

This season, Buses for Baseball will provide transportation and personal greetings for more than 1,500 underprivileged children attending Major League Baseball games as invited guests of their big league heroes. Buses for Baseball will provide many of the children with their first chance to attend a Major League Baseball game.

The Players Trust enjoys support from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in providing this unique, up close and personal opportunity to share the thrill of Major League Baseball with those less fortunate.
