West Chester claims 2008 Bill Giles Invitational Title

For the fifth time in six years, the West Chester University Golden Rams raised the Bill Giles Invitational trophy after defeating the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia Devils 7-6.
The bats were silent until the 3rd when West Chester's Nick Spisak lead off with a double after the next two batters grounded out to the pitcher, catcher Drew Pare walked bringing Bob Stumpo to the plate. He doubled driving in both base runners making it a 2-0 game. The Devils would battle back to score four and take the lead in the 4th capitalizing on a walk, error and three hits including a two run double by Mark Forbes. West Chester would go ahead for good in the 7th, scoring five runs including Stumpo's second 2-run double of the night. Though the Devils would add two more in the bottom of the 8th it wouldn't be enough as they left the tying run stranded at third in the bottom of the 9th.
To advance to the title game, West Chester endured a slugfest against the Philadelphia University Rams winning 10-8. The University of the Sciences in Philadelphia defeated defending champions Wilmington University (formerly Wilmington College) 13-5 to reach the championship.
