News-in-Education

Teacher workshop The Phillies in conjunction with the New in Education Department of the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News each year create a 16-page baseball oriented educational supplement that reaches nearly 50,000 students in the area. This year's supplement, Let's Get on the Honor, discussed how to set and reach goals and focused on geography, history and world cultures.

Additionally, a Teacher Workshop is held to educate teachers on how to best use the incorporate the supplement into their classroom.

This year a lesson plan contest was held asking area teachers to submit a baseball oriented lesson plan that used the newspaper and the Phillies website. From the entries received, four teachers were selected as winners and one was selected as a Grand Prize winner. The winning teachers presented their lesson plans at the Teacher Workshop.

Below are the top lesson plans. We hope that teachers can utilize them in their classroom and students will enjoy them!
