Join the fun at along Citizens Bank Way on Saturday, August 8, when former Phillies centerfielder Garry Maddox hosts his eighth annual Garry Maddox Barbecue Challenge. Admission to the Barbecue Challenge is free from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., before the Phillies take on the Florida Marlins at 7:05 p.m. Visitors can enjoy family-friendly entertainment and sample barbecue and other foods prepared by participating restaurants. Sampling tickets are available for purchase in the contest location on August 8 (3 for $10) and can be redeemed at participating stands while supplies last. All proceeds benefit the Youth Golf & Academics Program (YGAP), an academic enrichment program founded by Garry Maddox to support children in grades K-8 who reside in troubled city neighborhoods. During the June 12 Phillies game, the Phillies Wives are once again planning Save a Pet at the Park. Located at the first base gate on the main concourse, this special event features adoptable cats and dogs, a silent auction with signed and game-used Phillies memorabilia, a Wives Mystery Ball sale and raffle prizes. The wives encourage fans holding tickets to this game to visit the 1st base gate plaza and donate pet toys, kongs or gently used blankets to the shelter. A new Save a pet at the Park calendar will also make its debut. This 16-month calendar features players with their own pets plus dogs and cats from the Pennsylvania SPCA. Every calendar also includes one of five player posters. All proceeds benefit the Pennsylvania SPCA. June 12 tickets are still available through the Phillies Grand Slam Four Pack.

Gary Matthews will be signing copies of his book Phillies Confidential: The Untold Inside Story of the 2008 Championship Season pregame from 12:30 - 1:30 adjacent to the NewsStand on the main concourse behind section 111 at Citizens Bank Park. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Celebrate Flag Day at Citizens Bank Park! Clean out your piggy banks and donate your dimes to the Betsy Ross House. Betsy Ross and other colonial figures will be at the entrance gates collecting dimes as part of Dime Drive 2009. The money collected will help make much needed repairs to the Betsy Ross House and insure that Betsy's story can continue to be told to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The Moyer Foundation's Celebrity Waiters Dinner and Auction will be held in the Diamond Club on June 15. This fun and lively dinner is served by some of your "Phavorite" Phillies players and other local celebrities. All proceeds benefit The Moyer Foundation’s Camp Erin - bereavement camps for grieving children and teens AND local organizations dedicated to helping children in distress. The Phillies have partnered with the non-profit organization Second Chance Toys to collect gently-used plastic toys at the entrance gates prior to the game. The toys will be donated to charities and centers for children throughout the community. Help the environment by keeping toys out of landfills and in the hands of kids who will enjoy them.
