Red Goes Green

Help us Plant One Million!

In 2015, for the fourth year in a row, the Phillies partnered with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and TreePhilly in their effort to Plant One Million.

Plant One Million is an ambitious multi-state tree-planting campaign, encompassing 13 counties in southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey and Delaware.

The goal is to increase the "tree canopy cover" - the area of land shaded by trees - in the tri-state area to 30%, the greatest coverage in more than a century, by planting one million trees by 2020. The campaign has planted more than 500,000 trees so far.

Trees can increase property values and retail sales, reduce energy costs, flooding, and crime rates, improve air and water quality, and enhance the overall health and quality of life for local residents.

Each spring the Phillies provide fans with the chance to get involved in Plant One Million - a regional partnership led by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to plant one million trees throughout 13 counties in southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

In the spring of 2015, along with PHS, we were proud to offer a limited number of complimentary trees to our fans. Tree distribution took place on Saturday, May 9 at the PHS Warehouse at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Please check back next spring for 2016 information - you must be registered in advance in order to receive a free tree!
