- Began his coaching career in 1990 with Montreal, handling hitting coach duties at Single-A Jamestown.

Playing Career

Jose, a former infielder, batted .275 with 239 doubles, 37 triples, 102 home runs and 633 RBI in 1,416 career Minor League games from 1977-90 ... reached the Triple-A level in the Philadelphia, White Sox, Toronto, Kansas City and Montreal organizations.

- Had 20 or more doubles four times, including a career-high 32 doubles in 1984 with Triple-A Denver.
- Appeared in a career-high 134 games with Triple-A Buffalo in 1985 ... twice hit a career-best 12 home runs: in 1984 with Triple-A Denver and in 1986 with Triple-A Syracuse.
- Batted .310 with 59 RBI in 117 games with Double-A Reading in 1980.
- Selected by the Phillies in the 27th round of the 1977 draft.
