COACHING CAREER: Enters his second season in the Padres organization and his first as first base coach for the Major League squad.

• Joined the Padres last season and served in 2015 as the organization's outfield and baserunning coordinator.

• Spent the 2014 season before joining the Padres as the first base coach for the Houston Astros, also handling baserunning instruction for the Astros, a season in which Astro's infielder Jose Altuve led the American League with a career-high 56 stolen bases.

• Prior to joining the Astros, Brock spent the previous seven seasons (2007-13) with the Florida Marlins where he was the outfield and baserunning coordinator.

• Spent parts of the 2010 season as the Major League club's first base coach for the Marlins.

• Began his coaching career with the Short-A Odgen Raptors of the Pioneer League in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization where he served as hitting coach.

PLAYING CAREER: Signed as a second-round selection out of the 1991 First-Year Player Draft by the Detroit Tigers out of Hawthorne High School (CA), Brock enjoyed a 13-year career as a professional player, including minor league stints with the Tigers (1991-96), Seattle Mariners (1997-98), Colorado Rockies (1999), Chicago Cubs (1999-2000) and Dodgers (2002-03).

• Appeared in 13 Major League games with the Cubs in 2000, including making his Major League debut on March 29, 2000 in the Cubs history Opening Day game against the New York Mets at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, getting a single in his first career Major League at-bat off of Rich Rodriguez.

PERSONAL: Full name is Tarrik Jumaan Brock...he and his wife, Kanika, reside in Woodland Hills, Calif. with their two sons, T.J. and Christopher.
