Joe Crawford, 43, enters his 11th season with the Brewers after being named to the staff in November 2003. Crawford assists the Major League coaching staff with all on-field instruction and game preparation. Key to this is his work through the use of video for coaching, advance scouting and game review. He is also responsible for coordinating information between the coaching and advance scouting staffs.
Prior to his time in Milwaukee, Crawford played 11 years of professional baseball from 1991-2001 as a pitcher in the Brewers, Mets, Diamondbacks and Red Sox organizations. He reached the Major Leagues with the Mets in 1997. Crawford also pitched in Japan from 1998-99 for the Chiba Lotte Marines and served as pitching coach for the Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League from 2002-03. Crawford graduated cum laude from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in finance.
A native of Hillsboro, Ohio, he resides in Willard, Ohio, with his wife, Kara, and daughters, Madelyn and Cassidy.
