Marcus Hanel, 42, is in his 15th season as bullpen catcher. He came to the Brewers after retiring as an active player in 1999.
Hanel played 11 seasons in the minor leagues for Pittsburgh, Atlanta and Arizona. He was selected in the 18th round of the 1989 draft by the Pirates.
Hanel graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1989, where he lettered in both baseball and basketball. He has a charitable organization called "Koos For Kids" that helps terminally ill and disadvantaged youths in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Hanel was born on Oct. 19, 1971, in Racine, Wisconsin, where he still resides today with his wife, Jill, twin daughters, Ashley and Grace, and sons, Nathan and Levi.
