COACHING CAREER
• Begins his fourth season as Brewers pitching coach.....was named to his current position on 11/15/10
• Led a staff in 2012 that recorded 1,402 strikeouts, which trailed only the 2003 Cubs (1,404) in Major League history 
• Guided a 2011 staff that produced a franchise-record 96 wins with a 3.63 ERA, the team's best since posting a 3.43 ERA in 1992
• Was pitching coach with Florida (2006-07) and Baltimore (2008-10) prior to joining the Brewers
• Was named Major League Coach of the Year by Baseball America in 2006 as his Florida staff became the first in Major League history to feature four rookies with at least 10 wins each.....those rookie pitchers were Josh Johnson (12-7), Scott Olsen (12-10), Ricky Nolasco (11-11) and Anibal Sanchez (10-3)
• Spent 22 seasons (1984-2005) in the Cubs organization
• Had stints in the Major Leagues with the Cubs as an assistant pitching coach (1996-98 and 2000-01) and bullpen coach (2002)
• Coached in the minor leagues at Rookie Pikeville (1984), Class A Winston-Salem (1985-86), Rookie Wytheville (1987), Class A Peoria (1988-89), Double-A Charlotte (1990-91), Triple-A Iowa (1992, '99, 2004-05) and Double-A Orlando (1993)
• Served the Cubs as minor league pitching coordinator (1994-95) 

MANAGING CAREER
• Spent his only season as a manager at Class A Daytona (Cubs) in 2003 and went 66-71 (.482)

PLAYING CAREER
• Was drafted in 1977 by St. Louis (January) and Los Angeles (June) but elected to remain in college
• Was drafted (fourth round) and signed by Milwaukee in 1979 and pitched five seasons in the farm system (1979-83)

PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS
• Is married.....wife's name is Kelly.....the couple has three daughters, Paige, Christin and Allie, and a son named Matthew
• Graduated from Apollo (AZ) High School
• Attended Yavapai Junior College and Oklahoma State University
