Coaching Career
Promoted to assistant hitting coach and catching instructor on 12/18/13. Worked the last three seasons (2011-13) as a coach for Clearwater (A) after being out of baseball in 2010. Spent 18 years (1992-2009) with KC as a coach at the Major and Minor League levels. Was on KC's Major League coaching staff for five years as both bullpen (2002, 2008-09) and third base (2003-04) coach. Served as interim manager for KC in 2002, from 4/30-5/14, posting a 5-8 record. Managed for 10 years in KC's Minor League system with Eugene (R, 1993), Rockford (A, 1994), Wilmington (A, 1995-97, 2007), Wichita (AA, 1998-99) and Omaha (AAA, 2000-01). Led his clubs to three league championship series, winning titles in 1996 and 1999. Named Manager of the Year by Baseball America in 1999 and won Midwest League Manager of the Year honors in 1994. Guided Wilmington to the best record in the Carolina League in 1995. Also was a roving catching instructor for KC for two years (2005-06). Began his coaching career in 1992 with Eugene.

Playing Career
Was HOU's first-round selection in the 1979 draft. Spent parts of four seasons in the Major Leagues with HOU (1983, 1985-86) and ATL (1989). Signed with MTL on 12/9/86, but was released before the 1987 season.
