COACHING CAREER
Promoted to his current position on 10/4/12. Previously served as the bullpen coach (2009-12)
following 5 seasons as the major league catching
instructor (2004-08). Was a coach on the 2009 & 2010 NL All-Star teams. Accompanied Chase Utley and Jim Thome to the 2008
and 2004 All-Star Games, respectively, and pitched to
them during the Home Run Derby. Joined the Phillies organization as the minor league
catching coordinator in 2000, a position he held through
the 2003 season. Was the Angels' bullpen/workout coordinator from
1994-99.
PLAYING CAREER
Selected by the Orioles in the 2nd round of the
1985 draft. Played in the Orioles (1985-88, 93), Rangers (1988-89)
and Angels (1990-92) organizations. Hit .262 in his final playing season with the independent
Rochester Aces in 1993. Released from the Rockies organization in the spring
of 1994.Appeared as a pinch-hitter in the Hall of Fame Game,
8/5/96, and hit a 2-run HR.
