James Calvin Rollins...Single...1996 graduate of Encinal High School (CA), where he played baseball...Selected to All-USA High School Baseball team by USA Today after setting 10 school career records, including steals (99) and batting (.484)...Rated by Baseball America as Northern California's top high school infielder; also was a Baseball America 2nd Team All-American...Played Babe Ruth, AAU Jr. Olympics ball...Appeared in several MC Hammer and Mavis Staples music videos in the late '80s and early '90s...Started the "J-Roll's Readers" club in 2002 through his involvement as chairman of the Philadelphia Reads program...In 2003, served as honorary chairman for the Negro Leagues Baseball Memorial Fund, which constructed a statue located in Fairmount Park to honor Philadelphia's Negro Leagues players...Served as honorary chairman for Easter Seals in 2004...Phillies nominee for MLB's Roberto Clemente Award in 2005...Brother, Antwon, spent time in the Rangers and Expos farm systems...His parents, James and Gigi, were honored in 2002 by Babe Ruth Little League, Inc. with the "Graduate Parents of the Year Award" for "their remarkable accomplishments in raising their son"...Selected to the United States' provisional roster for the 2006 World Baseball Classic...Is a member of the Philadelphia Action Team, a national youth volunteer initiative administered by the Major League Baseball Players Trust and Volunteers of America...Was the recipient of the 2007 Mike Schmidt MVP Award from the Philadelphia chapter of the BBWAA...Won the Oscar Charleston Legacy Award from the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum as the museum's choice for Most Valuable Player for the National League...Was the 2008 recipient of the John Wanamaker award...2008 inductee into the Arizona Fall League Hall of Fame...Hobby: Traveling.
