Rookie League Equipment Drive presented by SportChek
As you make your way to the game on Sunday, April 27, keep an eye out for the Rookie League Equipment Drive presented by SportChek, hosted in support of Jays Care Foundation. Please feel free to gather and drop your gently used equipment or make a monetary donation at Gate 3,5,10 and 13 of Rogers Centre. The first 500 fans to make a donation of $20 or more will receive a $10 gift card to SportChek.
Jays Care Foundation, in partnership with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, the Y, and Toronto Community Housing (TCH), offers this safe, fun, active and engaging baseball program for children, ages 5-13, who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in recreational or organized sport. In addition to providing youth employment opportunities and training coaches, Rookie League is a program that uses the game of baseball as a foundation to teach children the importance of team work, cooperation and self-esteem. Toronto Blue Jays players serve as Honourary Captains for each of the Rookie League divisions and all program sites are equipped with t-shirts, hats, baseball equipment and coaching support to facilitate programming. Last year, Rookie League reached over 6,300 children and youth across Canada.
In 2014, Rookie League is celebrating its 26th season, and will continue to break barriers to organized sport for more than 7,900 children and youth in 140 communities from coast to coast.
Jays Care works to ensure all children and youth have the opportunity to play, learn and grow through the sport of baseball. Follow the link below to purchase equipment or subsidize Rookie League registration costs for a child:Learn More
